(Hare Field- Hillsboro, OR)  The Washington County Pit Bulls continue to pick up steam with a 57-0 win over the Southern Oregon Renegades.  On a "Family, Friends, Fans" theme for the evening, fans enjoyed social hour with players and coaches before and after the game.  Photos were taken by Capturing Light Photography and Mister Taco's Food Truck was brought in for concessions.

HUDL highlights/game summary can be seen at the following link:

On the field the Pit Bulls dominated the game scoring all three phases of the game.  But it was the defense again that really put on a show.  Led by DE/LB Jaron Jones who accounted for 4 defensive touchdowns- 2 Fumble recoveries for TD and 2 interceptions for TD.  Jones also collected 3 sacks in this game.

Head Coach Mark Ancheta  stated: " Jaron has been putting up some really extraordinary numbers.  He was a late pick up for us last season and has really made a significant impact with his presence and fits so well with what we are doing schematically wise on defense.  He was the missing piece of the puzzle that we were missing when I first started building this defense three seasons ago.  We are able to drop him into zones, align him at the edge, and blitz him up the middle to get all the scheme match ups that we want.  Coach Calvin (Defensive Coach Calvin Bell) has really elevated the defenses play and their production.  I am so thankful for what the defensive unit is doing".

The Pit Bulls offense produced 191 yards of total offense.  The running back by committee is starting zone into their assignments and learn the system that Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Ancheta is teaching. TB/LB Rodney Grant finished the night with 5 carries for 56 yards.  TB Dondre Stance finished with 6 carries for 59 yards.  QB's Eric Archuletta and Eddy Simpsion combined for 5/9 passing with Simpson completing TD passes to WR Andrew Sedacy and WR James Owens.

But the night belonged to the defense holding the Renegade offense to -25 yards on total offense.  The stingy defense swarmed ball carriers and pressured the quarterback all day long. Three Pit Bulls defensive players TB/LB Rodney Grant, Safety Deonta Mcpherson, DE/LB Jaron Jones created forced fumbles.  TB/LB Grant claiming one of these fumbles for a recovery in the Renegade end zone for a touchdown.

LB Stevan Izquierdo also put on a score with a 45 yard punt return for a touchdown dodging and running over would be tacklers and sprinting down the Pit Bull side line to get in for the score.

The Pit Bulls are off for the next two weeks before going on the road down to Medford for the rematch with the Southern Oregon Renegades on June 17.  "We got a little banged up in our first four games.  We get a chance to heal up and solidify some schemes that we need to work on.  We want to put the best team on the field.  We have a lot more to grow on offense where I would like us to be executing, but we will get there" Coach Ancheta is quoted.
